It’s been quite a while since I shared a What I Ate Wednesday style post. I think it’s always interesting to look into someone else’s life and see what they eat. It may be why I loved being a cashier at Safeway, getting to see a person’s weekly grocery haul was fascinating to me.
So today I’m sharing a peek into my day. Fair warning, my pictures aren’t fancy, they’re just real.
If I don’t go to the gym in the morning, I almost always eat breakfast at my desk at work. I used to eat at home before work but then I realized I could sleep just an extra ten minutes if I took it to go and sleep wins always. Yesterday, I ate plain greek yogurt with cinnamon and vanilla mixed in. I topped the yogurt with sliced banana and coconut granola which I bought from the farmers market. And of course, a coffee because I couldn’t start my day without it.
Every single day at work, I eat a 10 a.m snack and every single day it’s 1/4 cup of almonds. I forgot to snap a picture of them but I trust you’ve seen an almond in your life before. 😉
I tend to eat my lunch at my desk so that I can spend my lunch break going for a walk. Yesterday, I spent my break in the gym getting in a quick chest workout.
My lunch was a mix of things that I threw together. 2 boiled eggs, carrots with parmesan garlic dip and a fruit salad with pineapple, strawberries, blueberries and nectarine.
Time for a coffee break. I had a coffee and half a peanut butter cliff bar. I had eaten the other half the day before.
Cliff bars aren’t something that’s a typical snack for me but we bought a giant Costco sized box for hiking and still have a lot left so I keep some at work for emergency snacks.
I ran 3.5 miles after work and had a barre class planned for the evening. Yes, it was a busy workout day! So I quickly snacked on a few dates with almond butter and a small glass of chocolate milk before heading out to class.
When I got home from barre, Tom had made supper. He cooked up some chicken sundried tomato and basil sausages from a local Calgary company and roasted some vegetables on the bbq. I made up a salad to go with it. The roasted veggies got a bit burnt but I just ate around the burnt ones.
I ate one of the new coconut Lindt truffles. It’s delicious! No picture of this because as if I could stop myself in time to take a picture before eating chocolate.
There you have it, a full day of eats. Not shown is the copious amounts of water that I drank. As you can see, I’m a snacker. I tend to eat 6 or more times a day. I find it works better for me. I like small portions more often so that I don’t feel overly full at any one time and I remained fueled throughout the day. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best way to eat. In my mind, we are all individual and different eating patterns work for different people.
Are you a snacker or more of a 3-meals a day person? Have you tried the Lindor coconut truffles yet?
