Happy Friday friends. This weekend, I’m mostly hanging around home. My plans include working out, Costco shopping and some work for my private Dietitian practice work. While I love my busy weekends, this also sounds about perfect. Now let’s talk about my week of workouts.
This week was a bit of a rollercoaster for workouts. Turns out as you get older it takes you longer to recover from a night of drinking. Saturday night was a bit of a runaway for me which led to two unscheduled rest days. I’ve been very consistent in the past couple of months so I’m not too worried about it. I also struggled with my plantar fasciitis, it really seemed to flare this week and I had to skip a run.
I’m onto Week 11 of the Live Fit Trainer program. I can’t believe next week is the last week. I never thought I’d stick to a program so well and I love it so much I’m considering repeating it!
Friday: 15-mile run
I was at my sisters and running in the country. Around her house, there is nothing but hills. My fitbit said I climbed 52 flights of stairs, it was tough but a great training run.
Sunday: Unplanned rest day
I was supposed to get in a 4-mile recovery run and shoulder workout but instead, the couch was my best friend.
Monday: Unplanned rest day
I woke up to my 4:45 a.m. alarm Monday morning and thought, nope, that’s not happening. I planned to get in a run and strength workout after work but instead I went home and napped. Like I said, two-day recovery.
Tuesday: Chest Live Fit Trainer Workout & 3-mile run
Finally, I got up for my morning workout and then got in a 3-mile run on the treadmill after work.
Wednesday: Legs Live Fit Trainer Workout
The leg day in this week of Live Fit Trainer is no joke! 20 reps per set and there were 4 sets. That means I did 160 weighted lunges and by the time I was done I could barely walk.
Despite my leg workout in the morning, I planned to do my 6-mile run with 7 hill repeats on my marathon training schedule in the evening. But my plantar fasciitis pain was so bad I couldn’t do it. I got dressed and started my run but just knew I needed to take the day off, so I quit the run.
Thursday turned into a beast mode triple workout day. I did the arms workout in the morning before work, did 30 minutes on the elliptical over lunch and then did a shoulder workout after work. Lesson learnt, when you take unscheduled rest days, it means you will pay for it later in the week.
I had a massage yesterday to deal with my tight calves which cause my foot pain and I have a physiotherapy appointment next week, so I’m hoping to be back on track with my marathon training. With only 50 days to go, I really don’t want any setbacks.
