Hello, friends. I had the most amazing weekend, filled with friends and fun times so I’m just going to get right into my recap. Starting with Thursday, since that’s where my weekend begins.
Tom got some free tickets to the Calgary Flames game and although I’m an ABC fan (anything but Calgary), I enjoy going to hockey games anytime I can. It was an exciting game, lots of fighting and the Islanders won in the final seconds of overtime so I left happy. We decided against staying out after the game and headed home so we could get an early start to our Friday.
I headed out for a 13-mile run. I decided to take a different route than usual which was a bit of a mistake because it was incredibly boring. Luckily, I had the Gilmore Guys podcast to listen to which kept it interesting.
I headed out in the afternoon to do a bit of shopping and renewed my passport before it was time to meet up with friends for dinner and drinks. We started our night at the Unicorn, which is back in Calgary, although a different location and not quite as good. Then it was time to hit up some Korean karaoke. This turned out to be SO much fun. We all made fools of ourselves and I could have stayed there all night singing but after our two hours, it was time to go.
Tom had bought me an ice cream cake for my birthday (which is on Thursday) but they wouldn’t let us eat it in the karaoke room. They did however store and cut it and so we all ate the ice cream cake in the parking lot after we left.
Since we apparently hadn’t had enough drinks, we walked to another local pub, The Pig & Duke, to continue our evening. And then we capped it off with some late night Chinese food at Singapore Sams. It was an amazing night and just the perfect way to celebrate my birthday.
While I felt fine on Saturday (no hangovers for me 🙂 ), Tom was not in the best shape. We decided to make it mostly a lazy day and sit on the couch watching Fuller House. I have to say I’m very impressed with the show. I was worried it would let me down but the initial episode was done perfectly. A good amount of making fun of themselves, reminiscing and setting up the story line for the new episodes.
Eventually, I got off the couch to head to the grocery story and prepare some foods to bring to Ashley’s housewarming party. Ashley’s house was gorgeous and it was the perfect opportunity for an Alberta Bloggers meetup which always means good times and good food.
I forgot to take a picture of the food, but I did get a picture of the delicious sangria Ashley made because, well… priorities.
Since we are all healthy living bloggers, we decided it was only fitting for us to join up for some group workouts! Ashley, Kaella and I met up for a 4 mile run before we met the rest of the group for BodyPump class at Goodlife fitness.
Because I’ve been working on the LiveFit Trainer program, I haven’t been to bodypump in a while. It’s always a fun class and I was excited to see that I was able to up my weights in almost every track which shows me I’m definitely getting stronger from my program.
After class, it was definitely time to refuel! We all went to Bow Valley Ranche for some brunch where we also met up with Ange and Laura, who weren’t able to make the bodypump class. Brunch was absolutely delicious. I had eggs benedict, which never lets me down. And yes, we love the group photo ops!
After all this fun, I spent my afternoon doing boring things like laundry and cleaning. Then it was time to get ready for the week.
What was the highlight of your weekend? What’s your favourite way to celebrate your birthday?
