Happy Monday! Hope you had a good weekend. I literally had the laziest weekend ever. It’s not that I didn’t have things on my to-do list. In fact, the problem is that I had too many things on my to-do list. Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed, I just completely shut down. Doing nothing is obviously not the rational thing to do but somehow it makes me feel better. That is until Monday rolls around and I feel guilty for not getting anything done and realize my to-do list remains. Here’s what this homebody got up to this weekend.
I got up early and headed out for a 4 mile run to start my day.
Top is Mizuno Breath Thermo Seamless Long Sleeve. Perfect winter running shirt, I’m in love!
I got home and showered quickly before heading to my hair appointment. Note, I did not wash my hair, I made that mistake once before a hair appointment and paid for it dearly with a burning scalp. My hairdresser told me to just come with dirty hair. I’m not sure he loves my sweaty post-run hair, but you do what you got to do.
I decided to go back lighter with my hair. After getting lowlights put into my hair my previous two hair appointments, I made him take them out. Typical girl who can never make up her mind!
My bridesmaids dress for my best friends wedding came in so I went to pick that up and now I need to find a seamstress. Having no boobs and being short means my dress needs a lot of work. Then I treated myself to lunch out at Via Cibo. I planned to order a salad but then saw they had a wood oven and I cannot resist a wood fired pizza. However, apparently I can’t read a menu properly and ended up ordering not a pizza. I’m not sure what it was. A wrap but not a wrap. It was good but I really wished it was pizza.
Then I did a bit of shopping. I found one new dress for my friends bachelorette party in Vegas and headed home. My spud order (local organic grocery delivery service) was on my doorstep and I was stoked to see the size of the produce I had in there. Kale like whoa!
I curled up on the couch for the evening and watched McFarland USA. Such a great movie, I highly recommend seeing it!
I planned to do my long run on Saturday. I got up and did my usual getting ready routine but my heart wasn’t in it. I had my running shoes on and about to head out the door when I realized I didn’t put my heart rate monitor on. I went upstairs to grab it and realized just how badly I didn’t want to run, I felt so tired. And so I didn’t run. I took off my running shoes, curled up on the couch and took an hour nap.
After watching far more episodes of The Office, than I care to admit, I eventually dragged myself to the gym where I managed to complete a shoulder workout and a 3-mile run. It wasn’t easy and I had to talk myself into every step of it but I felt so much better once I finished.
At home, I took a bubble bath and started reading Fast Girl: A Life Spent Running from Madness. Once I started this book, I could not put it down. I read and read and read all day long. Finally, I went to bed at 11. I wanted to keep reading but I knew I had to do my long run the next day.
I didn’t want a Saturday repeat so I let myself sleep in on Sunday. I woke up at 8 a.m. and felt amazing. It was a gorgeous day for a run and the pathways were packed. I guess Sunday is a popular running day or something? 😉 My 9 miles flew by.
At home, I had another bubble bath and finished Fast Girl. Seriously, it’s that good that I finished it in 2 days. The rest of my afternoon was spent doing boring things like laundry, meal prep and of course, watching more episodes of The Office.
Although I wish I had more accomplished on my to-do list this weekend, sometimes I think it’s okay to just give yourself a complete break for a weekend. A lot of times my life is go, go, go and it felt good to just take some alone time.
Have you ever got completely dressed for a workout and called it quits? What was the highlight of your weekend?
