Tomorrow I’ll be revealing the details of my reader survey. If you haven’t had the chance to fill it out you can still do it today and be entered to win a Starbucks gift card. But as I read through the comments of the survey results so far I notice people asking for more stuff about my life, what I do in a day, etc. So I figured why not do a day in the life post. I did one a long time ago so I’m about due for one. Coincidentally it’s Wednesday which means a lot of bloggers share their eats for “What I ate Wednesday”. Since eating is a large part of my daily life I’ll be sharing that as well. So let’s go!
5:20 a.m. First alarm goes off. Hit snooze
5:30 a.m. Second alarm goes off. Hit snooze
5:40 a.m. Third alarm goes off. Hit snooze
5:50 a.m. Fourth alarm goes off, finally get up. Hitting snooze is such a bad habit of mine. I actually mean to get up at 5:40 each day but I purposefully set my first alarm for 5:20 so I can hit snooze a couple of times. I realize it’s not logical, but it’s what I do.
I usually finish getting ready (teeth brushed, face washed, makeup on & dressed) by about 6:15. Then I head downstairs and start my 15 minutes of whirlwind activity which includes making my coffee, making my smoothie & putting together my lunch. Yes, I realize I could put my lunch together the night before but that would just take all the fun out of my rushing around every morning. 😉
6:30 a.m. Head out the door to walk to work.
During my walk I always listen to a podcast. Lately I’ve been loving the Chalene Johnson – Build your tribe. I’m learning a lot of great tips for growing my blog & social media accounts. So I feel like I’m working before I’m even at work!
6:45 a.m. Arrive at work. Start drinking my coffee & drinking my smoothie while I check emails and start commenting on blogs.
7:15 a.m. Start working. Yes I’m supposed to start at 7:00, but lets be honest, we all take that little personal time in the morning to scan the internet don’t we? Don’t we?….
10:00 a.m. Come back to my office for snack time & more blog commenting. I eat the same snack every single day at 10 a.m., yogurt with granola. Usually it’s plain greek yogurt with cinnamon & vanilla and my homemade maple pecan granola. But today I was out of my yogurt so I had to take one of Tom’s and I haven’t made my granola for a while so I’ve been eating samples I got from Blog Fest.
10:15 a.m. Back to work. As I was eating my snack I saw a consult for me that put me into crisis mode. I spent the entire rest of my morning & most of my afternoon dealing with this one issue.
12:10 p.m. Sit at my desk and eat lunch while I look at social media. I am well aware that distracted eating isn’t a good thing and I should not be eating at my desk. But it’s my chance to catch up on social media & blogging stuff during the day.
Lunch was a mixed bag of stuff. I had carrots with hummus and then some plain brown rice cakes that I topped with sundried tomato & basil tuna.
12:25 p.m. Head out of my lunch-time walk & listen to more podcasts.
12:45 p.m. Back to work and I head to a conference for a client.
2:00 p.m. I snack on some watermelon. (I forgot to take a picture but I trust you know what watermelon looks like.)
3:15 p.m. Finish work, get changed to head out for my run.
I had a 6 mile tempo run planned but as soon as I started I knew that wasn’t going to happen. I did my long run Sunday and then had Body Pump at GoodLife Fitness on Monday. My legs were feeling the workouts and weren’t going to move very fast or very long. I decided to make it into a 3 mile recovery run instead.
Then I spent a good 10 minutes making sure I got the perfect running photo. I mean, priorities right?
4:00 p.m. Arrive home, stretch for a little bit then puruse social media & post my perfect running photo to Instagram. Then quickly rinse my body off, reapply deodorant, change and head out the door to do some shopping.
4:45 p.m. Stop at Extreme Pita for supper. Yes, I am a 70 year old lady who has supper at 4:45p.m.
I opted for a grilled chicken salad. Plus some of their homemade pita chips with tzatziki.
It ended up being disappointing because they put on a ton of dressing despite me saying “just a little” and they barely gave me any lettuce. I of course had to share my frustration about this with my sister because I knew she would understand.
5:45 p.m. Brave Wal-Mart. Ugh. So many people everywhere and I’m just miserable. I was looking for a garbage bin that’s split for garbage and recycling but I couldn’t find one I liked. While I was there though I decided to buy some new pillows since I noticed ours were getting worn out. Does anyone else feel the need to try and “lay” on the pillow to test it out in the store? I really don’t think it simulates how it will feel when I try to sleep but it makes me feel better.
6:30 p.m. Get back home and start working on this blog post.
7:30p.m. Finish the blog post (except to add what I did from 7:30 till bedtime later). Put on the Bachelorette finale and grab some cherries to snack on.
9:00 p.m. Take a shower
9:15 p.m. Watch The Bachelorette, after the final rose. I had to know if they’re still together!
10:00p.m. Finish up blog post & schedule it for the next day.
10:15 p.m. Brush teeth & lights out!
How do you test if a pillow is good? Did you watch the Bachelorette finale?
