I can’t believe the weekend is over already. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and I definitely wished I was camping. However, I still had a fantastic weekend.
Saturday I met up with a group of local bloggers for Color Me Rad.
I mentioned Thursday that I had procrastinated and missed out buying on site parking. Turns out that was for the best. The parking on the hill was an absolute gong show. People were getting rerouted and it took forever to get to the course. Apparently the shuttles were also a big flop this year and people were waiting in line for over an hour. I was very happy I decided to just park at the bottom of the hill and walk up.
The course this year was disappointing. In the past, you had to run up the ski hill so it was a challenging course. Due to complaints about that they made a new course. But the new course had you literally walking loops in a parking lot. It seems at that location there is no “good” course.
We walked most of the course and chatted along the way but occasionally we would pick it up and start running. There were definitely more colour stations this year compared to last so I liked that. Getting colourful by the end was not a problem!
But just in case we didn’t have enough colour, we decided to have some fun with our colour bombs.
Overall I had a good time mostly because of the company I was with. I heard about a lot of problems this year including them running out of colour for the later heats. We got a good deal on our registration through living social so I felt it was worthwhile. But would I pay $65 next year to loop a parking lot? No.
Right after Color Me Rad I headed home to clean up and get ready for my high school reunion. I met up with a group of friends at a bar for a beer on the patio before we headed to the reunion.
I was a little disappointed with the turnout. Our graduating class was about 200 people and only about a quarter of the graduates showed up.
But I still had a lot of fun despite the poor turn out. It was great to catch up with old friends. There was a dinner and a dance although I don’t think anyone danced. It was more people just visiting and catching up the whole time.
I love this picture. I can’t remember what happened to make us all laugh so hard but it must have been good!
Sunday I went and had a visit with my Dad & step-mom since I didn’t get a chance to see him on Father’s Day. It was nice to have some one-on-one time. Coming from a family of 6, I don’t often get time to just spend with my Dad on my own. Then I made the journey home and enjoyed the heatwave we are having! And by that I mean I ate a drumstick in front of my fan.
Have you ever done a colour run? What did you do this weekend?
