You know those weekends you just never want to end? That was this weekend for me. I did so much and had so much fun! I can’t wait to recap it for you.
It all started Thursday night. Each year Tom goes on a “mystery trip” with his 3 best friends.
What do I mean by mystery? One guy plans it and the others have no idea where they are going until they get to the airport the day they leave. This year was Toms time to plan so I have known where they are going for months. The secret was killing me!
The guys all came over Thursday night so Tom could pack their bags. We then had a great night having some drinks and playing games as the excitement built.
Friday I dropped them off at the airport on their way to…. Iceland!
I then headed to my sisters house to hang out with her and my nieces for the evening.
Saturday my sister and I headed to West Edmonton mall to meet my friend Chelsi and do some shopping. The mall was crazy busy! I remembered why I don’t shop at big malls on Saturday. But it was a pretty successful trip as my sister & I found dresses to wear to the dinner theater that night. The play was dirty dancing, I was psyched! Sadly the show ended up being disappointing but I had a great time visiting with the ladies and I won the draw at the end of the night for free tickets to the next show so it wasn’t all a loss.
Afterwards a couple of us went out to dance the night away. It’s been far too long since I’ve been out dancing and we had so much fun! I didn’t get to bed until 3:30am which is WAY past my bedtime.
Sunday was my friends baby shower! Yay for baby snuggles.
We played two games at the baby shower and I won both of them! Everyone always bugs me about winning everything and this weekend that definitely was true.
Afterwards we had a going away dinner for my friend Jenna who is moving to another province. 🙁
I’m sad that one of my closest friends is moving away. However, I realized last night at this dinner that when you have great friends it doesn’t matter how long you go without seeing each other, you just pick up right where you left off.
Overall the weekend was amazing. A complete whirlwind and I’m exhausted but totally worth it.

#Motivate Me Monday
My workouts did not go as planned this week. I have been afraid to admit it on my blog yet because then it makes it real but I think I’m injured. Dr. Google tells me I have hip bursitis in both my hips. I’m going to see my physio this week to determine a course of action. I’m optimistic I’ll still be able to do the Calgary Marathon but to complete the Seattle Rock N Roll two weeks later might be too much.
Anyways, here’s what I did manage to get done:
Monday – 3 mile run
I planned to do spin after work but Tom sprung it on me that the guys were coming over for a BBQ. So I had to figure out some last minute dinner plans and host.
Friday– 1 hour 15 minutes on elliptical-ish machine + 1 hour bike
Friday should have been my long run day but I was concerned about the pain in my hips. Since I couldn’t see my physio I asked Beth, my running coach, for her recommendation. She suggested I cross train at the same intensity and time as my run to maintain my endurance without putting the pressure on my hips.
I was going to do a 3 mile run but I woke up and my hips were aching. So I skipped it. However I did manage to dance my booty off all night so I’m going to count that as a workout.
My day was jam packed Sunday so there was no time for working out
I’m not super happy with myself when I realize I only did 3 workouts last week but sometimes life gets in the way and that’s okay too.
How was your weekend?
