I mentioned before that I was
kind of a major hoarder of skincare products. Exhibit A:
Despite my large collection of skincare I have a number of tried and true favourites. These items I buy time and time again when the container is empty. My skincare needs have changed recently since I went onto Accutane and I’ll be doing an updated skincare post about that. But for normal/combination skin these are the best of the best.
Cleanser – Philosophy Purity
This cleanser is relativity new to my skincare routine but I love it. It’s gentle on the skin and eyes. It completely removes my makeup including eye makeup and doesn’t sting at all. I find it very hydrating so its great for dry skin but it really is good for all skin types.
Daytime Moisturizer – Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet
I love, love, love this moisturizer. It’s very hydrating yet is completely matte and goes perfectly underneath makeup. It’s suitable for all skin types. I used to have quite oily skin and this product worked well yet for dry skin it’s very hydrating and would work well also.
This is one of those products where a little bit goes a long way. I use only a pea size amount for my full face so the price of it isn’t that bad when it lasts for months.
The only downside in my opinion is that it doesn’t have sunscreen which I would prefer for a daytime moisturizer. Generally my foundation has sunscreen so I don’t have to worry about it but it would be a nice feature.
Daytime Under Eye Cream – Origins GinZing
This eye cream is insane! It claims to depuff and reduce dark circles. The first time I tried it I was amazed. I have bad dark under eye circles and I wouldn’t say this product does anything to lighten them overtime but it has this reflective quality to it that helps make them appear less noticeable. And it definitely works on under eye puffiness. After having not enough sleep for a night this stuff is a true miracle worker.
Nighttime Moisturizer – Korres Wild Rose & Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of having both a daytime and nighttime skincare routine. Night cream is not just for old ladies. In fact, the earlier you start, the better off you’ll be. Nighttime creams are generally much more hydrating. They are too thick and wouldn’t go well underneath makeup which is why they are reserved for nighttime.
As for this particular cream. I love how hydrating it is and I really do feel the brightening effect works. My skin looks more refreshed in the morning after using this cream.
Nighttime Under Eye Cream – Origins Eye Doctor
Since I love the Origins daytime under eye cream so much I decided to use their brand for my nighttime cream as well. This is just a general highly moisturizing eye cream. It has a nice thick formula and it gets the job done nicely.
All of these products I purchase at Sephora. Now does this mean you can’t have good skin with drugstore products? Absolutely not, drugstore products can be just as good. What I like about higher end products is you tend to use a lot less. The cost upfront seems high but if you use less it works out to be around the same. Plus I get points on my Sephora account so that I get free stuff. 😉
What are your favourite skincare products? Do you have a daytime and nighttime routine?
