I will be finishing up my series on Nutrient Requirements for Active People but today I wanted to talk makeup. More specifically, about makeup removal. A while ago I posted my 6 must have items for removing makeup.
At the time of my last post I didn’t have a good cleanser that I liked plus I was using two different eye makeup removers – one for everyday and one for when I used waterproof mascara. When I was offered the chance to review a makeup removing lotion cleanser I was intrigued. It might be able to solve my cleanser problem and do away with my two other eye makeup removers.
I tried the Garnier Clean Plus Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser. Wow, that’s a mouthful!
I love finding a good drugstore product so I had really high hopes for this cleanser. This product is a lotion cleanser that you actually apply to your skin dry, that was a little weird at first. Then you wash it off or if you are just using it as an eye makeup remover you can just use a cotton pad to remove.
The weird thing was that when I opened the bottle a bunch of liquid squirted out. For a lotion cleanser I expected it to be thick. I shook it a lot and it ended up being somewhat lotion like but you can see from my picture it was still runny. I considered that it likely froze when it was delivered to me but I read a number of other reviews who said the same thing about the consistency.
The cleanser has no smell as it’s completely fragrance free as well as alcohol & dye free which makes it suitable for sensitive skin. My skin is incredibly dry right now so I love the idea of a lotion cleanser. I did find that my skin was softer after using it.
I was pretty skeptical when it said it can remove waterproof mascara. But in one or two swipes of my cotton pad my waterproof mascara & eyeliner was gone. No excessive rubbing! However, it stung my eyes. So while it technically can remove waterproof mascara, I wouldn’t want to use it around my eyes. Bummer.
And as for how it held up to my go-to Loreal Makeup remover…
It actually did a better job of removing. I found I had to swipe less and use less product to remove my eye makeup however once again the eye stinging was the issue.
Overall, I think this is a good product to use as a facial cleanser especially for those with dry skin but I will be sticking with my current eye makeup removers.
Have you found the perfect cleanser?
