Holy, it’s Thursday! Where did this week go? I guess I’ve just been super busy. Time flies when you’re having fun right? As per usual, I’m joining Amanda for Thinking out Loud.
When I decided to start a blog I did it because I wanted an outlet. My own little place on the internet where I could give others some knowledge, inspiration and hopefully a little humour. What I never expected was how quickly it could lead to some amazing opportunities. I don’t blog for the perks but I have to admit, sometimes it’s pretty awesome. This week was no exception, I got the chance to attend two amazing events.
Tuesday I headed to the newest GoodLife Fitness location in Calgary for the grand opening. It’s located in a historic bank, built originally in 1931. It is absolutely gorgeous and they did an incredible job of restoring it.
Now who wouldn’t want to work out there! The event itself was fabulous. We were treated to drinks and incredible food from The Main Dish.
After some presentations including a hysterical Celine Dion impression from the MC, Jessica Holmes, country music singer George Canyon gave us a private concert. Amazing!
I can’t thank GoodLife enough for inviting me to this event, it was an incredible night and I was very happy to share it with Ange.
There wasn’t any free wine but there was smoothies! Jugo Juice makes a signature smoothie each year for the race and we got a chance to sample the smoothie and enter our name suggestions.
Here’s the ingredient list:
To be perfectly honest, it wasn’t my favourite but that’s because I don’t like coconut water. But if you like coconut water, I’m sure you’d love this smoothie. I put it out to social media to help me out with a name and the
best only suggestion I got was bonk buster, I thought that was pretty clever!
After some mingling and getting my free t-shirt, Martin Parnell gave a talk. Who is Martin Parnell? He is the guy who ran 250 marathon in one year! Crazy, I saw him speak just before Christmas at the Running Room and fell in love with him. This time I got a chance to chat with him and bought a book which he signed for me.
Martin also announced he plans to run the Calgary Marathon this year! I’m excited to continue to connect with him and run the race this year with him.
