Another weekend has come and gone. I only have two days of work this week and then it’s Christmas! My weekend was filled with family & friends which are always the best kinds. So let’s get recapping!
Friday after work I went to my hairdresser. We talked before about making a big change in the New Year but he felt he wanted to do it now so I let him go for it. I totally trust my hairdresser so I told him to do whatever he thought would look good. He made a big change.
I like the cut but I’m a little unsure about the colour. I’m not sure if it’s just such a big change that I need to get used to it or if I actually dislike the colour. The good thing is, it’s just hair. Next time I can get it dyed another colour, so I’m not stressed about it.
While I was at my hairdresser, I got a text from Kaella saying congratulations. I had no idea what she was congratulating me for. She told me check my email and I saw this!
That’s right I’m going to be part of the Rock ‘n’ Blog team for 2015. I was super surprised by this. I applied but I figured it was a long shot for me because they were only accepting 100 bloggers and there are so many great ones out there. But they picked me. And even better, they picked Kaella too! So now we’ve got some Rock N’ Roll races to plan! I was already planning for Vegas in November but I don’t know which other ones to choose.
Tom and I went with my sister to my nieces dance class because it was parent watch week. It was so adorable.
Then we took them shopping at Dollarama to pick out a present for their parents. It was so cute to see what they picked out. My one niece picked out slippers for both of them. As we went back to the car, I said okay now don’t tell Mom. We opened the car door and she yelled out, I got Mommy & Daddy slippers. Surprise spoiled I guess. Kids are awesome that way.
Afterwards we headed to Camrose to see Tom’s family. We missed the early family Christmas they had when we were in Turks & Caicos so it was great to have a family supper.
For the evening I headed to my friend Chelsi’s house (see you made my blog Chelsi!) for some “Christmas Cheer”. We had some wine and enjoyed some christmas shots which tasted like cough syrup.
Then went to another friends house where the party continued. Christmas drinks were apparently the theme because we ended up drinking creme de menthe which made our teeth & tongues green. I got a chance to wear my adorable penguin sweater again which is always a plus.
Sunday I met my Mom for breakfast and then headed back to Calgary. Then I braved the mall! Ugh, I was all done my Christmas shopping and yet there I was at the mall on the last Sunday before Christmas. Why? Because I bought my sister a new hair straighener for her birthday but she decided to buy herself a new one right before her birthday! So off to the mall to find a new birthday present I went. It was absolutely insane in there, luckily I was in and out because I knew what I was going for.
Tom and I spent the rest of the night being lazy cuddling on the couch and watching Christmas movies. Overall, a jam packed weekend but I loved every second of it.

This past week I was not very motivated. I made up my training plan for the Phoenix half-marathon but for whatever reason I wasn’t into it. I only got 2 runs in.
With Christmas, next week gets a little more tricky to stay motivated. But my goal for the week is to at minimum get my 3 training runs in and 1 cross training session.
As for vegetables, I’m still trying to keep consistent with my goal of 7 servings vegetables & fruits daily. My saving grace for this goal is smoothies. My morning green smoothies pack 3 servings vegetables & fruits so achieving the goal isn’t very difficult.
Truthfully, I’m pretty boring with my smoothies. It’s always kale or spinach with banana & peanut butter. I decided to give something a little different a try. As you know, I have been in LOVE with cookie butter lately. It tastes Christmasy to me so I figured it would make a delicious holiday smoothie. I wasn’t wrong. I wanted to pack some nutrients in it but then have the cookie butter as a Christmas treat. This is what I came up with:
- 2 cups kale
- 1 Tbsp Cookie butter
- 1/4 Cup Plain Greek Yogurt
- 1 Tbsp Hemp Hearts
- 7 Ice cubes
- 1/2 cup water
- Dash cinnamon
- Combine all ingredients into blender and mix well
