Recent Makeup Haul

It’s been a while since I’ve shown any new makeup on my blog, that’s because I’ve been pretty good lately at not buying any too much. Even when I went to Vegas last month, I didn’t go crazy in Sephora. Note to self, shopping at Sephora while hungover is the key to not overspending.

I have bought a few things here and there and with the VIB Rouge event I went to at Sephora last week, I figured it was time to recap some of my new haul.

Left to Right: Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte in Color #1 (Nude Beige), M.A.C Lustre in Plumful, M.A.C satin in M.A.C. Red

I generally buy all MAC lipsticks because they’re wonderful and I get a discount. However at the VIB rouge event there was a rep from YSL so I got to talking with her and she picked out a great lipstick for me. Plus, if you bought something from her, you got a free sample mascara. Score! I’m always up for a freebie. I love, love, love the colour of this lipstick. It’s the perfect nude pink that I think would work on so many different people. The formula of the lipstick is incredible. It glides on and feels like butter. It’s a pricey lipstick but if you’re wanting a splurge, I highly recommend!

MAC plumful I mostly picked up for my makeup kit as it’s a great mother of the bride colour.

MAC Red is a great cherry red. I was missing a cherry red from my collection and have been eyeing up this shade for a while. If you’re someone who has shyed away from red because you don’t know what shade to pick or if you can pull it off, I highly recommend starting with this colour.

I picked up one new blush that I have been hearing about for a long time. It’s called Rockateur by Benefit.

This blush is gorgeous. It’s a pink with a golden shimmer. The shimmer is really finely milled so you don’t look sparkly, instead you get that perfectly lit from within glow.

Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Liner in Blackest Black: This eyeliner is an exact dupe for MAC’s gel liner in blacktrack. I even love the applicator brush that the liner came with. After trying this product I probably wouldn’t ever buy MAC’s blacktrack again because I can find a much cheaper version from the drugstore.

Loreal Voluminous Miss Manga Mascara: I have loved Loreal Voluminous mascara for years and when I saw they came out with a new edition, I had to try it. The big difference in this mascara is the wand. It has a bendable 360 wand that’s supposed to allow you to achieve the wide eye effect. So far, I agree that it works. I am able to get my outer lashes fluttering out and I find I get way less clumps than I do with the original voluminous mascara wand. I could definitely see myself permanently making the switch to this mascara.

Urban Decay Eyshadow Primer Potion in Sin: I love the Urban Decay’s original primer potion as it locks eyeshadows in place. This version is champagnes coloured and its gorgeous. It has a shimmer that can completely change some of the eyeshadow colours that you currently use. I love pairing this primer potion with the Naked 3 palette.

Kat Von D autograph pencil in eyegasm: I wanted a green coloured eyeliner to use for  bronze eye makeup look I like doing. I will be posting a tutorial of that look soon.

What are some of your recent makeup purchases? Are you bold enough to wear red lips?

That benefit blush looks really pretty. I don’t buy or wear much makeup but I do like Benefit stuff. I use their mascara and under eye concealer. Next time I need blush I will be checking this out.

Benefit has some great products. The blush is SUPER nice. I think it would be perfect for someone who doesn’t wear a lot of makeup because it has that beautiful natural flush look to it. In the box it looks a little intense, but it doesn’t go on that way.
