Weekend and NYC Marathon Training Recap

It’s Monday, I was not ready for the weekend to come to an end. I had a wonderfully low-key weekend which doesn’t happen all that often and I was thoroughly enjoying it. But alas, back to work I go.

Now lets recap how the weekend went.

I got up and got myself ready to tackle my long run for the week. I wasn’t entirely sure if I was going to be able to complete the long run due to my recent injury but I surprised myself and was able to power through the 13 miles. The rest of my day was pretty low key, it included napping (my favourite) and a chick flick (also my favourite).

Saturday was a little more eventful. I was up at 6 a.m. to do some wedding hair and makeup.

At it again! A morning of wedding makeup.

It was another great day with a great group of ladies. I completed one of my favourite updos to date.

From the wedding I headed to Calaway Park to meet my sister, brother-in-law and 2 nephews. It was time for some rides! My one nephew was crazy excited. He is definitely a thrill seeker and no ride seemed to big for him. He was even curious about the big roller coaster but my sister figured 3 years old was a little too young for that. He settled for the airplanes, boats and dune buggies.

Meanwhile, my other nephew being too small for rides, took to being completely adorable.

I had to rush out of Calway Park to get to my hair appointment. I was just getting a quick toner touch up on my roots. I thought I would be in and out in half an hour but my stylist decided to get a little creative with my style. I’d say its the closest I’ll ever come to having dreadlocks.

I started by fuelling up with french toast prior to my 10km run.

Homemade cappuccino and french toast. Perfect start to a Sunday!

The rest of the day was mostly running errands and getting all the things done that I should have been doing Friday instead of napping and movie watching.

New York Marathon Training Recap Week 9

I haven’t shared a recap of my training in a few weeks. I mentioned I had a few bad weeks and then my injury came so I didn’t post. I’m going to post weekly though, good or bad, because I want to be honest about my training. Luckily, this week was a good week.

Planned Actual Comments
Monday Strength 5 Miles This was my first run back post injury.
Tuesday 6 Miles 30 min Elliptical Intervals + Abs
Wednesday 5 X 800m Intervals + Abs 5 X 800m Intervals + Abs Hurray I stuck to my plan
Thursday Rest Rest No problem!
Friday 15 Miles 13 Miles Since I have been injured my last long run was 11 miles. I decided not to push too hard too fast to prevent any further injuries.
Saturday Walk/Yoga Walked I walked around Calaway Park all afternoon
Sunday 5 Miles + Abs 6 Miles  I felt great during my run, it was supposed to be a slow easy run but I kept up a consistent pace and even conquered my dreaded hill without stopping

How was your weekend? Do you have a case of the Mondays?
